Pancakes on the Plaza
The Rotary Club of Santa Fe Foundation is now the lead sponsor for the Annual July 4th Pancakes on Plaza in partnership with United Way of Santa Fe and The Sana Fe New Mexican.
International Projects
This Foundation has been actively involved in partnering with other Rotary Clubs to provide clean water and meet medical needs in Mexico. Through matching grants at the District and International levels we have helped supply medical equipment in Guadalajara, and provided infrastructure for schools for Tarahumara Indians.
The Golf Tournaments and Concerts
These events have been a major source for funds to give back to the community in the form of grants.

The Diversity of the Rotary Club of Santa Fe Foundation
Endowment through the Santa Fe Community Foundation
Money received on the first Thursday of each month in the Good News Basket is donated to the Rotary Foundation of the Santa Fe Rotary Club. This policy, established in July 2006, and starting August 2006, is in effect until the $10,000 endowment held at the Santa Fe Community Foundation is established and the board changes it. In this way all members of the club will indirectly have the opportunity to contribute to the endowment.
Rotary International (RI) Donor Advised Fund
In September 2006 the board voted to start a Donor Advised Fund through Rotrary International with an initial investment of $20,000. Per applicable IRS rules and the RI Donor Advised Fund the following attributes of the Donor Advised Fund are mandatory to achieve the tax status sought by the donors and the Fund owners (in this case RI):
1. Funds deposited by donors into the fund are the property of RI. The funds deposited are irrevocable and non-refundable. These funds will not appear as nor are they assets of Santa Fe Rotary Club Foundation (SFRCF).
2. Grant requests from SFRCF for expense from the fund are treated as recommendations, and, although such grant requests are treated with due respect and usually followed, there is no legal obligation for the fund manager to issue funds per the grant request. As a matter of law, RI owns the funds and retains discretion whether or not to fund a specific grant request.
3. An agreement by RI to guarantee SFRCF that a specific grant request will be funded and that the grant can include all or part of the fund flies in the face of #1 and #2. SFRCF cannot control the funds once they become property of RI. RI cannot guarantee SFRCF control without jeopardizing the tax status.
2006 Grant Recipients:
The committee for the selection of grant recipients from the Santa Fe Rotary Foundation worked hard to review all proposals, narrow the field according to who met the criteria most, invited participants to do an in-person presentation, and finally came to a decision to grant the following recepients a share of the $36,000 proceeds available for disbursement:
St Vincent's Hospital Foundation $14,000
La Familia Medical Center $ 8,000
SF Rape Crisis Center $ 8,000
NM Suicide Intervention Project $ 6,000
The above represents 80% of each organization's grant request.
This totals $36,000
2005 Grant Appropriations
The Appropriations Committee initially considered 17 applicants, which was distilled down to 5 grant applicants. Formal presentations were made by all five, followed by questions from the Committee. Based on those presentations, the Appropriation Committee recommended and the Board approved the following grants:
SF Partners in Education $10,000
SF Habitat for Humanity $10,000
NM Cancer Institute Foundation $ 5,000
